FBFK law firm adds lauded white-collar & regulatory law attorney Stephen Toland as head of Austin office
DALLAS (Oct. 5, 2022) – Celebrating 20 years of legal excellence across Texas and the U.S., Dallas-based FBFK law firm today announced leading White-Collar Crime & Regulatory Law attorney, Stephen Toland, has joined the firm and will head the fast-growing Austin office.
With more than 20 years of legal experience, Toland focuses on federal and state criminal defense, with an emphasis on federal white-collar defense and investigations. He represents individuals and companies in all phases of investigation and criminal prosecution with particular focus on advising and counseling those facing a governmental investigation with the goal of preventing prosecution.

Board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a recognized litigator across Texas, Toland has argued more than 300 contested matters in federal court and tried 60 cases in state court. His strong relationships with government officials in nearly every major enforcement agency enable him to effectively identify persuasive arguments, narrow the scope of inquiries, limit corporate and individual exposure and negotiate favorable resolutions.
Prior to joining FBFK, Toland was a founding and managing partner at Austin-based Peek and Toland. He is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow, a four-year Texas Super Lawyer, a Federal Judicial Appointee – Criminal Justice Acts Panel Committee, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas/Austin Division, a State Bar of Texas District 9 Grievance Committee Member and named a four-year Top Attorney Austin by Austin Monthly Magazine.
He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Texas School of Law and St. Mary’s School of Law, was the President of St. Mary’s School of Law Austin Alumni Association from 2012 – 2021 and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Austin Bar Association.
Toland earned a B.A. from Tulane University, a Master of Science in Communication from Mississippi College, and a J.D. from St. Mary’s School of Law.
