"Thank you for the professionalism that I experienced during my recent relocation to a registered investment advisor. You listened carefully and responded with the perfect opportunity for the next chapter of my professional life. You also did an especially thorough job of briefing me as to the exact landscape, culture and personalities that I would encounter during the interview process. This allowed me to be confident in my readiness and to move through the interview process on a no-surprise basis. I highly recommend the services of the Amicus Search Group."

Amicus Search Group's Lee Allbritton quoted in the December issue of Of Counsel Magazine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Amicus Search Group's founding partner, J. Lee Allbritton, Jr., was quoted in the December issue of Of Counsel Magazine. The article, "From Appalachia to the Gulf Coast and Beyond, Energy Law Practices are Hyper-Busy", explains how explosive the energy boom has been in Houston and Western Pennsylvania for energy lawyers as many non-indigeneous firms flock to the newly coined "Petro-polis" for highly sought legal counsel.

With respect to the E & P goldrush in the shale plays, Allbritton explained, "The companies involved in this do not care about the price of lawyers… It's an undiscounted, full-fare legal practice, so it's very attractive for US law firms to get into the energy business."  Allbritton further commented on the increased regulatory scrutiny, necessitating key hires in those practices: "In the wake of the Macondo-BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, not to mention a more aggressive EPA than in previous administrations, there's a lot more unwanted regulatory attention, which requires companies to hire law firms with strong Washington, Austin, Sacramento, Albany, [and other state capital] connections."  When asked about the uptick in lateral hiring, Allbritton noted: "There is more than enough work.  There just aren't enough skilled, credentialed, or noteworthy practitioners for firms to hire.  So they're either going to have to satisfy demand by hiring up-and-coming 30-something lawyers who are trained by other lawyers, or they'll have to colonize their new offices by transplanting practitioners from other cities into Houston and try to recruit Houston attorneys who are connected to the Houston business community." Access the full article here (subscription required).
